Welcome to the Old Rectory hotel

The Old Rectory hotel in Wem, Shropshire is a real haven of comfort and style.

We've created a special place that people love, where individually styled rooms (everyone has a favourite), home-grown produce and friendly and professional staff (if you want our attention) are just part of the Old Rectory experience.

Our handsome Georgian hotel is located on the edge of the bustling market town of Wem in Shropshire and is set within 3.5 acres of beautiful walled gardens with rolling lawns and stunning views. We are small enough to feel warm and homely but big enough to offer modern luxury.

" We stayed at the Old Rectory (3/4th Feb) and would definately stay there again..the staff were very welcoming and the atmoshphere is relaxed. We had an evening meal in the restaurant which was very good and breakfast the following morning was more than ample. The rooms were comfortable and we had a lovely garden view. Best shower we've every had in a hotel too! "

" Came to the hotel for my Birthday due to discounted rate. Booked it for 2 nights and made an upgrade to the room. Stayed in four poster bed room suite and really enjoyed our stay! Rhe whole suite was very clean and staff very helpfull and friendly. I guess the only downside was rhe restauranr's food. Quite pricy but nothing too special. Overall we had a very good stay. "

" Service was friendly and attentive, but not overbearing. Food was good. We went on a special offer of £70 per night for 2 b and b which was excellent value for money. In good location for visiting many aspects of Shropshire town and country. "

"A very picturesque, sophisticated, clean hotel with very well - kept gardens and polite, attentive staff. The Bridal Suite made an excellent family room for a couple and a two - year - old stopping off on a quiet Monday evening. We were offered a newspaper - which was waiting outside our door in the morning - and an alarm call. There were no surprise hidden charges above the rate quoted by booking.com. Very pleased and will return."

"I recently attended a party at The Old Rectory Hotel and the experience was first class. The food was delicious (special mention must go to the Baileys Creme Brulee), the portions were large and the staff were polite and attentive. The hotel kept the bar open for us until the last person went to bed. My single room, although not large, was nicely decorated and very comfortable. I did not order a cooked breakfast but was quite envious when I saw what my friends were served. The hotel is set in b..."

"A lovely building set in its own grounds. The location was ideal. Handy for Shrewsbury, the shropshire countryside and numerous National Trust properties. Our room was delightful with views over the grounds and countryside. The staff were all very friendly and the service at meal times was good. There was a comfortable bar and lounge with a small library."

"We recently celebrated a family birthday at The Old Rectory and the evening was truly memorable thanks to the service and attention we received from the Manager, Selina and her staff. We were able to book the Conservatory for our party and it was ideal as we could all sit together around one large table. The food was first class, everyone was served at the same time and everything was piping hot and delicious. The service was efficient and appropriately discreet given the nature of the event. M..."

"The hotel was set in lovely grounds surrounded by beautiful countryside, just outside the small market town of Wem.The rooms were tastefully decorated and the furniture blended in to the country house feel of the lovely old rectory. "We arrived late, but they kept the restaurant open so that we could have an evening meal - a great start! We had to leave early on each of the days that we were staying and missed their delicious cooked breakfast, but they delivered an excellent continental breakfast to our room at no extra charge at 06:00 each morning, that's service for you - Well done!! "

"Hidden gem! We had our second stay at the Old Rectory. A beautiful small hotel in lovely setting and some real character in the place. Ideally situated for visiting places of interest around the area… Great value for money for the B&B deal. Restaurant food is very good with a reasonable selection at very reasonable prices. The whole ambience is tranquil and laid back. "
