Welcome to the Old Rectory hotel

The Old Rectory hotel in Wem, Shropshire is a real haven of comfort and style.

We've created a special place that people love, where individually styled rooms (everyone has a favourite), home-grown produce and friendly and professional staff (if you want our attention) are just part of the Old Rectory experience.

Our handsome Georgian hotel is located on the edge of the bustling market town of Wem in Shropshire and is set within 3.5 acres of beautiful walled gardens with rolling lawns and stunning views. We are small enough to feel warm and homely but big enough to offer modern luxury.

" "A little gem in Wem" - I spent 4 nights here, in 2 different rooms as a single guest. Both rooms were comfortable, well decorated and appointed with very friendly and helpful staff. The food was great, especially the breakfasts, not just the cooked element but the buffet with 4 types of muesli, home made jam and fresh fruit salad. This was exceptional. I had dinner there twice and the food (though not always as described on the menu) was well cooked and tasty. I would de..."

" "Nice 2 night stay" - Stayed at the old rectory on a Groupon deal for 2 nights. Staff were very pleasant and the hotel was nice, the hotel is a very old place and had a lot of character. The grounds to the hotel were nice with very well striped lawns. Will return again if in Wem.   "

" "Lovely hotel with excellent food and staff" -  Stayed here on a 2 night special groupon offer, we were not disappointed! Had a lovely room, the upgrade half corona room which was very nice but doesn't really look over gardens at the back (below is the yard so bit of a shame but not the end of the world). Room has a spa bath which was lovely though. Bed was really comfortable king size. Breakfasts were really good, great choice of cereal/yoghurt /fruit/juices/baby bel /ban..."

" "Proposal to remember!" -  The hotel was stunningly beautiful. We stayed in the Bridal Suite which had a stunning four poster bed and chaise lounge. The staff were lovely, especially the younger blonde lady who made us feel at home. The food was local and yummy! We had a groupon deal and didnt feel we were treated any differently. The grounds were also beautiful and a gorgeous setting for a morning coffee on the patio and evening stroll. Whilst there my fiance proposed a..."

" "Hen Party Evening & Overnight Stay" - The Old Rectory Hotel was the venue for my Hen Party, approximately 10 guests. Everyone had an excellent time. The rooms were clean and comfortable, even the smallest room was lovely and cosy. The staff were friendly and attentive. I was impressed with the amount of effort they'd put in to decorating the room and making sure everyone was catered for and happy. The price was very reasonable. " "What a lovely place to stay with great staff! - This was a magic, last minute find - very pretty location, lovely hotel with the most comfortable single bed I've ever slept in! (Helps that it was 4ft wide!). We were so well looked after - nothing was too much bother, including collecting fresh peppermint out go the herb garden for a post-meal digestif! Looking forward to a return visit soon.   "

" “Completely superb" - We have recently enjoyed the most superb hen weekend at the Old Rectory. I could not recommend the hotel highly enough. A beautifully restored place with lovely food. But most significantly quite genuinely the best service I have ever experienced! Selina and her staff went entirely above and beyond to meet our every need. So friendly, welcoming and helpful. I would not hesitate to return.   "

" "Late Xmas Getaway" - My partner Maxine and I arrived on the Friday evening and were made welcome straight away. We stayed in room 5 which overlooked the courtyard - this is currently under renovation but didn't affect our stay. The furniture was becoming of the room, the bed was comfortable and the en-suite lovely and clean. The breakfast in the morning was ample and set us up for the rest of the day; they also catered for my gluten intolerance which is a huge bonus. All in al..."

" "2 nights away from it all" - We wanted to have a two night stay away between Christmas and New Year that was quiet, in the country. Far away from the hustle and bustle. Went on-line and The Old Rectory fullfilled our criteria for a two night B&B stay at a very reasonable price of £140.00, for two people, all in. The Sunday Lunch was two courses for £12.95, and didn't disappoint. Lovely fresh starter of prawns and apple. Roast beef to follow. Excellent value for..."

" We had a 2 night break at this hotel and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Our deal included dinner on the first night from a set menu which was fairly limited but perfectly adequate and breakfast was fabulous. The room was large and airy with huge windows overlooking the gardens. As well as the usual tea tray, a bottle of water was left in the room each day. I found the whole place quite charming with the antique furniture, chandeliers, grand piano in the drawing room and creaky staircase. A ref..."
