Welcome to the Old Rectory hotel

The Old Rectory hotel in Wem, Shropshire is a real haven of comfort and style.

We've created a special place that people love, where individually styled rooms (everyone has a favourite), home-grown produce and friendly and professional staff (if you want our attention) are just part of the Old Rectory experience.

Our handsome Georgian hotel is located on the edge of the bustling market town of Wem in Shropshire and is set within 3.5 acres of beautiful walled gardens with rolling lawns and stunning views. We are small enough to feel warm and homely but big enough to offer modern luxury.

" "Late Xmas Getaway" - My partner Maxine and I arrived on the Friday evening and were made welcome straight away. We stayed in room 5 which overlooked the courtyard - this is currently under renovation but didn't affect our stay. The furniture was becoming of the room, the bed was comfortable and the en-suite lovely and clean. The breakfast in the morning was ample and set us up for the rest of the day; they also catered for my gluten intolerance which is a huge bonus. All in al..."

" "2 nights away from it all" - We wanted to have a two night stay away between Christmas and New Year that was quiet, in the country. Far away from the hustle and bustle. Went on-line and The Old Rectory fullfilled our criteria for a two night B&B stay at a very reasonable price of £140.00, for two people, all in. The Sunday Lunch was two courses for £12.95, and didn't disappoint. Lovely fresh starter of prawns and apple. Roast beef to follow. Excellent value for..."

Joe (Booking.com review) - October 2013
" We had a 2 night break at this hotel and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Our deal included dinner on the first night from a set menu which was fairly limited but perfectly adequate and breakfast was fabulous. The room was large and airy with huge windows overlooking the gardens. As well as the usual tea tray, a bottle of water was left in the room each day. I found the whole place quite charming with the antique furniture, chandeliers, grand piano in the drawing room and creaky staircase. A ref..."

" "Wonderful break" - We've just had a fabulous stay at The Old Rectory. The service was exemplary and all the front of house staff worked very hard - you couldn't fault them. The atmosphere was very relaxing and we felt very well looked after! The food was outstanding. The breakfast particularly was one of the best we'd ever had in a hotel. Excellent quality and well cooked - compliments to the chef! All in all a very enjoyable break and we would love to visit again...."

" "A Nice Find" - Made very welcome by pleasant staff. Hotel is very clean and well appointed. It certainly lived up to our expectations and we were not disappointed. The food was well-presented and there was a good choice. The hotel is on the edge of the town which is in walking distance - Wem itself is a useful place to stay to explore the northern part of Shropshire. "

" "Outstanding Service" - We have just returned from a one night stay and had a lovely time. We were given a lovely warm and friendly welcome. Our room was fantastic; we stayed in a room with a four poster bed and jacuzzi bath. It was extremely clean and comfortable, and very warm! Dinner was great, service fantastic, especially the young waitress Natalie. Will definitely be returning!  "
Butterfly8089 (Trip Advisor review) - March 2013
" The whole experience is brilliant. This old rectory has been restored and refurbished to a very high standard throughout. We loved everything - the high ceilings, the impressive staircase, the period decor, the drawing room, the dining room, the bar, the entrance hall - and of course the beautiful bedroom with brilliant views across parkland, the quiet and the really helpful but not 'in your face' staff.             &nb..."
